Privacy policy

This website is operated by Scott Jenvey, a REALTOR® with Sotheby’s International Realty Canada in Kelowna, British Columbia. I handle personal information in line with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act and British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act.

What I collect

Information you give me. When you use a form on this site, I receive what you enter:

• Market snapshot requests: your name, email address, the neighbourhood you choose and, if you tell me, your plans.
• Home valuation requests: your name, email address, phone number if given, the property address, the property type and timeframe, and any message.
• Contact form messages: your name, email address, phone number if given, what you are interested in, and your message.
• School catchment lookups: the address you type, which is sent to my listings server and to the Province of British Columbia’s BC Address Geocoder to find the schools. I do not ask for or attach your name, and the address appears only in my server’s technical logs, which are deleted after 30 days.
• Emails and calls: whatever you choose to send or tell me.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, this one measures how it is used: the pages viewed, the device and browser, the approximate location (city level), how you arrived, and actions such as submitting a form or tapping a phone number or email link. This is collected through Google Analytics using cookies and similar technology. Google Analytics gives each browser a random identifier, which lets me see when the same browser returns; it does not tell me who you are. When you arrive from one of my Google ads, Google also records that the visit came from the ad so I can see whether my advertising is working.

How I use it

• To send you what you asked for, such as a market snapshot or a home valuation.
• To follow up with you about your real estate questions or plans. You can tell me at any time that you would rather not hear from me.
• To keep a record of our conversations so I can serve you well. Enquiries and notes are kept in my own client database, which runs on equipment I own.
• To know when you have opened a document I shared with you. If I send you a personal link to a document on scottjenvey.com, such as a market analysis, I am notified when it is opened so I can follow up at the right time.
• To understand how the site is used and to measure and improve my advertising.
• To meet my legal, regulatory and professional obligations as a licensed REALTOR® in British Columbia.

I do not sell or rent your personal information, and I do not share it with other businesses for their own marketing.

Who helps me run the site

My own systems and a small number of service providers handle information on my behalf. The providers use it only to provide their service:

• A.L.I.C.E., my own assistant system, runs on equipment I own alongside my listings server and client database. It helps me organise enquiries, keep my records current and prepare drafts. It uses an AI model provided by Anthropic, so the text it works on is processed by Anthropic. It does not contact you or make decisions on its own; I review and send everything myself.
• Vercel hosts this website.
• Resend delivers the emails sent when you submit a form, and Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 host my email.
• Google provides Google Analytics and Google Ads measurement, and Google Fonts supplies the typefaces, so your browser contacts Google when a page loads.
• OpenStreetMap supplies the map images on listing and neighbourhood pages, and Cloudflare delivers listing photos from my server, so your browser contacts them when those load.

Some of these providers store information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be accessible to authorities under local law. Listing data and photos on this site come from the MLS® system of the Association of Interior REALTORS®.

If you go on to work with me on a purchase or sale, your information becomes part of a real estate file held by Sotheby’s International Realty Canada, which must keep certain records under British Columbia’s real estate rules and federal anti-money-laundering law. I may also disclose information where the law requires it.

Cookies and your choices

Google Analytics uses cookies to tell visits apart. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or use Google’s Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The site still works without them.

How long I keep it

I keep enquiries for as long as they are useful for helping you and following up, and transaction records for as long as the law and my brokerage require. When information is no longer needed, I delete it.

Your rights

You can ask to see the personal information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, withdraw your consent to my using it, or ask me to delete it, subject to any records I am required to keep. Email scott@scottjenvey.com or call 250.808.6240, and I will respond within 30 days.

If you are not satisfied with my response, you can contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.

I may update this policy as the site changes. The date below shows when it was last revised.
